Educational Background

Mahmood has Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton, May 2020. He attended Kabul Kardan University and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Management, 2010. Mahmood has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Islamic University, Pakistan, May 2000.

 

Work Experience

Mahmood Omid has had a career in nonprofits spanning more than 20 years, including assignments with nongovernmental, governmental, private and intergovernmental agencies in democratic governance, economic development, internal auditing, case management, program management, humanitarian assistance and society building. Mahmood is well-connected with government officials, business elites and community members. It is his firm belief that exchange generates understanding and understanding result in cooperation. Mahmood has extensive experience in building interagency collaborations, securing and managing government contracts, fundraising, and public relations. Mahmood has lived and worked in four countries. As someone who has been an immigrant most of his life, he has a passion for supporting immigrants as they make the transition to life in the USA. Mahmood has attended in numerous national and international conferences as a speaker:

  • Field Program Manager for Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR) 2002 – 2007
  • Internal Audit Director for Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) and World Bank 2007-2009
  • Program Manager for the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) 2009-2014
  • Immigration Case Manager/ Refugee Resettlement Case Manager for International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA), Tiyya Foundation, and EACO 2014-present.
